A big word, Mr. N.

It is hard to believe or understand: In a video Netanyahu claims, the Palestinians had “ethnic cleansing” in mind. Meaning the idea that they disagree with Jewish settlements on their territory.

I am glad to see that in “Haaretz” the answers are manifold and all of them an outcry: “Netanyahu’s Claim of ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ Sets a Guinness Record for Chutzpah” is one, another: “Netanyahu Accused of Twisting History in ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ Video”.

“Yes, Netanyahu, Let’s Talk About Ethnic Cleansing” offers Gideon Levy, with:

“Turning Israeli settlers into victims is the prime minister’s most staggering act of chutzpah yet. The only mass ethnic cleansing that took place here was in 1948, when some 700,000 Arabs were forced to leave their lands”, and on he goes.

“Comparing Palestinian Citizens of Israel With Illegal Israeli Settlers Is Immoral, Irrational and Ahistorical”, says Ahmad Tibi.

And the reactions by the US media are immediate as well: “Netanyahu’s ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ Video Pushes Obama Closer to UN Security Council” and “U.S. Slams Netanyahu’s ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ Video, Calling It ‘Inappropriate and Unhelpful'”.

The grotesque twisting of power and victims has its parallel – strange as it is – with Blocher’s quote this year: The vote of the Swiss public – once the outcome was not what he liked – was a sign that his party (the mightiest of all) was being victim to oppression like the SS in the Nazi 3oes. Erdogan, Putin, AfD and the whole bunch – there seem to be no limits to their crazy rhetoric.
